This project is being carried at two institutions viz Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital (since April 2001) and Dr. B. R. Sur Homoeopathic Medical College, Hospital and Research centre since May 2003.

Osteoarthritis
106 cases were studied (66 new cases and 40 old cases) during 1st April 2004 to 31st December 2004. Majority of patients were in the age group of 60 yrs and above. In majority of patients knee joints were involved with mild to marked degenerative changes. Mild improvement was seen in 57 cases, moderate improvement in 38 patients and marked improvement in 11 patients. The drugs found useful were Mag phos, Angustra vera, Radium brom, Bryonia, Conium and Rhus tox.
Rheumatoid arthritis
There were 48 registered cases (33 new and 15 old) from 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2004 and 40 follow up cases (28 females and 12 males). Most of the patients were in the group of 25- 45 years. Marked improvement was in 12 patients, moderate improvement in 16 patients, mild improvement in 6 patients, static condition in 2 patients, one patient was worse and 3 were are under observation. The drugs found useful were Actea spicata, Rhus tox, Bryonia alba, Dulcamara, Ruta G and Alfa alfa.
II. Dr. B. R. Sur Homoeopathic Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre

There were 132 registered cases during 1st April 2004 to 31st December 2004. The disease incidence was osteoarthritis 39 cases, rheumatoid arthritis 39 cases, cervical spondylosis 20 cases, lumbar spondylosis 26 cases, sciatica 6 cases and three cases of necrosis femur. There was moderate improvement in 23 patients, mild improvement in 3 patients. The medicines were administered on constitutional basis.
