Clinical Research Project on Renal Stones and Gall Stone

 

This project was started at Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital in the year 2001 and at Dr. B. R. Sur Homoeopathic Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre in 2003 with the objectives to identify the efficacy of Homoeopathy in the treatment of renal stone and Gall bladder stone.

I. Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital

  • Interns: - Alka Kwatra, Harkamal Kaur, Neeraj Agarwal, Shweta Bhasin, Sumi Singh and Topson Moidam.

During the period 1st April 2004 to 31st December 2004, 73 new cases were registered. There were 49 reporting cases including 38 new cases (28 male and 10 female) and 11 old cases (9 Male and 2 female). Out of 38 new reporting cases the stone expelled in 13 patients, size of stone reduced in one patient; advise for surgery to one patient and preventive treatment as given to 11 patients. In 11 follow up cases, the stone expelled in 3 patients and 2 patients were on preventive treatment. The most affected were in the age group of 30-35 for males and 20-25 for females. The medicines found useful in the expulsion of stones were Berberis v. Q, and Sarasaparilla Q, constitutional medicines Arg nit, Calc carb., Ignatia, Lycopodium, combination of Berb.vulg Q + hydrastis Q + Hydrangea Q (3:1:1), and Constitutional + organ remedy/symptomatic (Lyco 200+ Berberis vulg. Q and Sulphur 200 + Berb vulg. Q.)

II. Dr. B. R. Sur Homoeopathic Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre

  • Dr. Vipul Bhatnagr, Assistant Professor, Repertory

  • Dr. Meeta Gupta, Medical Officer (H)
  • Intern: Anjali Anand, Deepali, Meenu Sharma, Sandeep Agarwal, Shilpi Rastogi

There were18 new reporting cases and 5 old cases for the period 1st April 2004 to 31st December 2004. Maximum numbers of patients were in the age group of 20-30 years. Expulsion of stone was achieved in 10 patients and symptomatic improvement in other cases. Lycopodium along with Berberis Vulgaris Q was effective in the study.

Research in Gall Stone

During 1st April 2004 to 31st December 2004, out of 24 total cases 11 cases followed up regularly. Mild to moderate symptomatic improvement was seen in most of the patients.
